Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). To report a concern, contact legal@barsidetonight.app — we respond within 24 hours.
1. Our Commitment
Barside maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Any content, account, or behavior that sexually exploits or endangers minors is immediately removed and reported to the relevant authorities.
Barside is designed for adults aged 18 and over. Users must complete a mandatory age self-declaration during onboarding. Users who are found to be under 18 have their accounts immediately suspended and permanently deleted.
2. Age Verification
Before accessing any social features of the app, every user must:
- Confirm they are 18 years of age or older via a mandatory in-app declaration (pursuant to articles 46–47 of Italian Presidential Decree 445/2000).
- Accept Barside's Terms of Service, which explicitly prohibit minors from registering.
Accounts suspected of being operated by minors are suspended pending review and, if confirmed, permanently deleted.
3. Content Moderation
All user-generated content on Barside is subject to the following controls:
- Event photos are automatically screened via Google Cloud Vision API for explicit content before being displayed. Images flagged as explicit are rejected and never shown to users.
- Venue chat messages are subject to automated moderation and in-app reporting. Messages reported by 3 or more users within 10 minutes are automatically hidden.
- Private chats (Brindisi) are end-to-end accessible only to consenting participants and automatically deleted 24 hours after expiry.
- Accounts reported 5 or more times within 24 hours are automatically suspended pending manual review.
4. In-App Reporting
Users can report any content or behavior they find inappropriate directly within the app. Reports are classified into predefined categories including offensive messages, sexual content, and safety concerns. All reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
Reports involving minors or CSAE are treated as the highest priority and escalated immediately to our designated safety contact.
5. Reporting to Authorities
Barside complies with all applicable laws regarding mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse material. In the event CSAM is identified on our platform, we:
- Immediately remove the content and suspend the account involved.
- Preserve evidence in accordance with applicable law.
- Report the incident to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via CyberTipline as required under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
- Report to Italian law enforcement (Polizia Postale) and relevant EU authorities as required by applicable Italian and EU law.
6. Designated Safety Contact
Our designated child safety contact is trained and available to handle CSAE-related inquiries, reports, and compliance matters:
- Email: legal@barsidetonight.app
- Response time: Within 24 hours for CSAE-related reports.
This contact is responsible for coordinating with law enforcement, processing CSAM reports, and ensuring ongoing compliance with child safety regulations.
7. Policy Enforcement
Violations of this policy result in:
- Immediate content removal.
- Permanent account ban with no right of appeal for CSAE violations.
- Reporting to law enforcement where required by law.
- Cooperation with any subsequent investigation.
